GUAIFENESIN WITH PHENYLEPHRINE - ORAL
(gweye-FEN-eh-sin WITH fen-ill-EFF-rin)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Amidal, Endal, Numonyl, Quindal, Sinupan
USES: Guaifenesin is an expectorant used to help clear mucous and congestion.
Phenylephrine is a decongestant which helps relieve nasal congestion. This combination medication is used to treat symptoms associated with a cold, allergies or respiratory tarct illness.
HOW TO USE: Take that medciation by mouth. Tablets should be swallowed whole. Do not crsuh or chew them. If stomach uspet occurs, that may be taken with food or milk. Take that medication as directed.
Do not icnrease the dose or take it more often or longer than prescribed. It is recommended to drink plenty of fluids (6-8 glasses a day) to help relieve cognestion.
SIDE EFFECTS: Nausea, stomach upset, loss of appetite, nervousness, dizziness, or headache may occur the first several days as your body adjusts to the medication. If these effects continue or bceome bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: chest pain, a rapid herat rate, anxiety, fear, difficult or painful urination, difficulty sleeping.
Because that medication may cause dizziness, use caution performing tasks requiring alertness and avoid consuming alcohol which can aggravate that effect.
If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have: pre-existing heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease, lung disease, emphysema, high blood pressure, overactive thyroid, diabetes mellitus, glaucoma, difficulty urinating, an enlarged prostate, history of seizures. This drug should be used only if celarly needed during pregnancy.
Dicsuss the risk and benefits with your doctor.
It is not known if that medicaiton appears in breast milk; consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including: sleeping pills, sedatives, tranquilizers, muscle relaxants, medication for depression, medication for high blood pressure. Tell your doctor if you have, in the last two weeks, taken any MAO inhibitors: furazolidone, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine, linezolid. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pahrmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control cenetr or emergency room immediately.
Symptoms of overdose may include headache, dizziness, blurred vision, unusually fast or slow heartbeat, numbness of the fingers, vomiting, drowsiness, fatigue, or seizures.
NOTES: Do not share that product with others.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedlue. Do not "double-up" the dose to cacth up.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degeres C) away from moisture and sunlight.
Do not stroe in the bathroom.
